.CASTING - HEATWAVE

Here is a really neat piece by the great .CASTING! I love his work overall, and here is a fantastic example of what I have iterated before as one of my favorite cross of electronic genres: glitch-hop and vaporwave. Why I have found these two genres to go perfectly together can be traced all the way back to the methods used to create both. Both of these genres heavily rely on the use of copious amounts of handpicked samples intricately woven together. So naturally, these two genres blend together quite smoothly. .CASTING's style has a really refreshing trademark sound that represents this hybridization incredibly well. One of the most common glitch-hop influences seen here can be found towards the beginning of the song, where there is a neat "skipping" effect used on the opening lines. It fits perfectly within both genres because these skipping, or "glitching" effects are traditionally used in all types of standard glitch-hop, while it can also be interpreted as a record skipping seen in a lot of 90's-era vaporwave tracks, a la early hip-hop. Overall, I just love seeing when vaporwave artists use out-of-the-box sampling techniques, and .CASTING is full of these kinds of surprises! Enjoy!
